AURAL HABILITATIONIST
Birmingham Children's Cochlear Implant Programme has an opportunity for an energetic and experienced practitioner who wishes to develop their skills within a committed, forward looking inter-disciplinary team. The successful applicant will work in partnership with families and local providers to ensure the maximum speech, language and auditory potential of children with cochlear implants in a variety of settings.
Candidates will have a recognised qualification in the Education of the Deaf or Speech and Language Therapy. Additional qualifications in audiology, psychology or a background working with babies and very young children would be an advantage.
Cochlear implant experience, although preferred, is not essential as full training will be given. As this post involves centre, home and school based services, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential. There are ample opportunities for professional development through performance review and for participation in national and international conferences. The programme has recently moved to Aston University and will be housed in the Academy of Life Sciences, due for completion in April 2004. The new academy will provide a nationally unique facility for human clinical research and multi-disciplinary diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services. SCOTTISH COCHLEAR IMPLANT PROGRAMME FOR ADULTS & PAEDIATRICS
Acute Hospitals NHS Trust An experienced Teacher of the Deaf is required to join our busy and dynamic multidisciplinary team. Job share/part-time applicants will be considered. The team provides a national cochlear implant service to profoundly deaf adults and children in Scotland. The main responsibility of this post is the provision of outreach to the paediatric cochlear implant population. You will work in partnership with the implant team, families and local professionals. Applications are invited from Teachers holding a recognised qualification in the education of the deaf and a full driving licence. Cochlear implant experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as training will be provided. Competence to CACDP sign language stage 1 would also be advantageous.
You will be appointed to a three point Hospital Pay Scale which currently assimilates to a Senior Teachers Salary Scale. Annual leave entitlement is 35 days per leave year plus 5 paid Statutory/Public Holidays.
